A Week of "Trains"

So last week was an incredibly busy one for the Sheriffs...we had vacation bible school and we began potty training. The theme for VBS was "Boomerang Express" which sparked a rekindled interest in trains for Payne. All week long, he had to have Gordon in one hand and Thomas in the other...which he lovingly nicknamed the "Gordan Express" and "Thomas Express". The theme song includes the lyrics "All aboard"...and Payne has sung those words about 1,000 times since last week!!

Getting ready for the first night!

"It all comes back to Jesus!"

Payne hanging with his VBS peeps

He loved his teachers and classmates this week!

Payne and Daddy leaving on the last night...boy were we tired!

Showing off his kangaroo ears (calling them bunny ears) and craft bag

Such a great week and experience for Payne!

Now...our other "train" was NOT exactly as much fun as our VBS "train" themed week...but it was very necessary...potty training!! The most dreaded words for young mothers everywhere!! Actually, Payne has done quite well with potty training due to much prayer and patience. He was pretty stubborn for a few days...refusing to go. If you know Payne, you know that he is a busy boy and doesn't want to slow down for ANYTHING...whether it is eating (which he hates to do) or now...using the bathroom. But we had a breakthrough this week and he finally used the potty for the first time. In fact, he used it about 12 times in 2 hours so he could rack up on stickers for his potty chart and M and M's.
See...he got all of these stickers on the first day of actually pee peeing in the potty!

We worked on going all at one time and I think he has the hang of it now. Of course, there are still accidents and we are in "training"...but I am very proud of him for being such a big boy! And as long as it's his idea...he will try to go!

Payne's "potty basket"...supposed to be an inspirational reminder of being a big boy

This is that embarrassing photo everyone always talks about their mom getting of them! We have spent more time in the bathroom this week than I would ever care to mention!
